The Sooryavanshi Show — 93 off 38
Vaibhav Sooryavanshi's innings defied belief. The 15-year-old RR opener began quietly as Yashasvi Jaiswal took the attack to LSG in the powerplay — but once Sooryavanshi cut loose in the sixth over, the match was effectively over as a contest.
His assault on Prince Yadav in the ninth over was the defining passage of the innings — 6, 4, 0, 4, 6, wd, wd, 4 — a 26-run over that announced his intentions to the entire stadium. After racing to a 23-ball fifty, he dismantled the LSG bowling attack in every direction, hitting sixes over long-on, long-off and square leg with equal ease.
Sooryavanshi fell for 93 off Mohsin Khan's slower ball in the 14th over — denied what would have been a match-defining century by a clever change of pace. But by then, RR needed just 41 from 36 balls with Dhruv Jurel well set alongside him.
Jaiswal Sets the Foundation
Yashasvi Jaiswal was the aggressor in a 75-run opening partnership, tearing into Mohsin Khan's second over with 6, 4, 4, 4 in a 19-run over. He made 43 off 23 before falling shortly after the powerplay — but his assault had already made the chase look achievable even against a 220-run target.
Jurel Finishes the Job
Dhruv Jurel's unbeaten 53 off 38 was the calm anchor to Sooryavanshi's storm. Once the teenage star departed, Jurel ensured there were no wobbles — steering RR home with composed boundary-hitting in the final overs.
Marsh 96 — Another Brilliant Knock in a Losing Cause
Mitchell Marsh's 96 off 57 was a masterpiece — but it ended on the losing side. Following his 90 against CSK, Marsh has now scored 186 runs in his last two innings, becoming the first LSG batter to aggregate 500+ runs in successive IPL seasons. His partnership of 109 with Josh Inglis (60 off 29) gave LSG a platform of 220 — but Sooryavanshi made the target look inadequate.
Jofra Archer's death-over bowling was the one bright spot for RR with the ball — his two late wickets including Marsh prevented LSG from breaching 250.
Playoffs Picture After Match 64
With this win, Rajasthan Royals remain firmly in the playoff race with their fate in their own hands. They face Mumbai Indians in their final league game on May 24. LSG are eliminated and face Punjab Kings in their final match on May 23.
The remaining playoff spot is a straight fight between RR, CSK, SRH and DC — all needing wins and favourable results to secure their place in the top four.
